NuSTAR Milky Way Binaries Diagnostics
Abstract
Hardness Intensity Diagrams (HID) and Color - Color Diagrams (CCD) are powerful tools to observe the different accretion states in X-Ray Binaries (XRBs) when the sources are too faint to do the corresponding spectral analysis. We are using NuSTAR observations of XRBs in our Milky Way (MW) to measure their count rates between 4 - 25 keV to calculate hardness using different ranges of energy (4-6keV, 6-12keV and 12-25keV) and compare with results from spectral analysis studies. Our initial sample includes ~7 Black Hole (BH) XRBs well observed by NuSTAR between 2012 - 2016. Its our main goal with this research do a model independent test and calibration of HIDs and CCDs using NuSTAR data on MW XRBs, to use them as accurate tools to explore the different accretion states in XRBs with low counts, including extragalactic sources.
